Gemini shopping in the Philippines now compares products, prices and sellers in one answer, so shoppers can see your store next to competitors before they visit. Test yours in 10 minutes: ask Gemini and ChatGPT five questions a buyer would type, note whether your products appear with the right price and stock, then fix your product pages and Google Merchant Center data first.
Google added shopping features to the Gemini app in the Philippines on June 30, 2026, Philstar reported. The 11.11 sale falls on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, which leaves a few days to check what shoppers see first. ChatGPT works differently: OpenAI says its shopping program is live only in the U.S. This post explains what each assistant does, how to test your store yourself, and what to fix first.
What does Gemini shopping do in the Philippines?
Gemini answers shopping questions in the Philippines with prices, reviews, stock information and where to buy. Philstar reported on June 30, 2026 that users can compare products in side-by-side tables, see prices from across the web and browse a visual carousel. For example, the tables show factors specific to each product, such as dimensions or weight for a phone case.
Philstar says the features run on Google’s Shopping Graph, which it describes as holding over 60 billion product listings, with two billion updated every hour. At that scale, your listing can sit next to many others on price and stock. However, the coverage we read does not say how Gemini chooses which sellers to show, so no one can promise you a placement.
Does ChatGPT shop for Philippine buyers too?
Not through a merchant program yet. OpenAI’s merchants page, checked October 31, 2026, says shopping is live only in the U.S. and will expand to additional regions over time. OpenAI does not list the Philippines as supported; it appears only in the headquarters-country dropdown on the application form.
First, merchants apply through a form and join a waitlist, while Shopify and Etsy sellers already have their catalogs integrated. OpenAI also says buyers complete purchases on merchant-owned sites or apps, with no fees on purchases that start in ChatGPT. Buyers can still ask ChatGPT product questions in plain text, so the test below applies to both assistants. How do Gemini and ChatGPT differ for a Philippine store?
In short, Gemini is live for Philippine shoppers today, and ChatGPT’s shopping program is not.
| Factor | Gemini | ChatGPT |
|---|---|---|
| Live in the Philippines | Yes, since June 30, 2026 | Shopping program is U.S. only |
| Product source | Google’s Shopping Graph | Merchant feed in OpenAI’s format |
| How a store gets in | Page markup or a Merchant Center feed | Apply and join a waitlist |
| Where the buyer goes | Links to where to buy | Merchant’s own site or app |
Google documents two ways to share product data: Product structured data on your pages, and a Google Merchant Center feed. Google says structured data is not required to appear in Search results, and that Merchant Center participation is mandatory for some surfaces, such as the Shopping tab. The Philippines also appears among the countries Merchant Center supports, with the Shopping tab available. The Google pages we read do not say these inputs decide what Gemini shows.

See where your business shows up in AI answers
We run ten of your buying questions through ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews and show you where you stand. A person replies within 24 hours, Monday to Friday. You keep the audit either way.
How can you check your products yourself before 11.11?
Run five buyer questions through both assistants and log what comes back. The test takes about 10 minutes per assistant.
- Write five questions a buyer would type, with a product, a budget in pesos and a place. Example for an invented desk-lamp store: “best LED desk lamp under ₱1,500 in Quezon City”.
- Next, ask each question in Gemini and in ChatGPT, and run it twice, because answers can differ between runs.
- Then screenshot every answer.
- Record four things per answer: whether your store is named, whether the price matches your page, whether the stock status is right, and which sellers appear instead.
- Also search the same product in Google’s Shopping tab and compare what you see.
- Finally, repeat the test every week until the sale ends.
Our free AI visibility self-check uses the same method for a business. Tracking these questions every week and fixing what they show is what our consulting and audits page covers. For a local-store version of the test, see why ranking in Google’s top 3 does not mean ChatGPT recommends you.
What should you fix first?
Fix the facts a shopper sees first: product name, price in pesos, stock status and photos. Then share that data in the two ways Google documents.
- Match every price and stock level across your site, your Merchant Center feed and any marketplace listing.
- Add Product structured data to each product page. Google says it helps Google understand the page and increases eligibility for Product rich results.
- Next, open a Google Merchant Center account and upload a product feed, or use an automated feed if your catalog is small and changes rarely.
- Finally, check that every product page loads, shows one price and states in plain text whether the item is in stock.
- Fix pages that only exist as Facebook posts or photos with prices in the image. Assistants read text. See our post on businesses that only exist on Facebook.
None of this guarantees that Gemini or ChatGPT shows your store. Instead, it makes sure that when an assistant reads your page, it finds one correct price and a clear stock status. For the terms behind this work, see SEO vs AEO vs GEO.
Gemini shopping in the Philippines: FAQ
Do I need Google Merchant Center for Gemini shopping?
Google has not said Merchant Center is required for Gemini’s answers. Its Search Central documentation says Merchant Center participation is mandatory for some surfaces, such as the Shopping tab, and that structured data is not required to appear in Search. Set up both if you can. Neither guarantees a listing.
Can I submit my Philippine store to ChatGPT shopping?
OpenAI’s merchants page says shopping is live only in the U.S. The Philippines appears only in the headquarters-country dropdown on the application form. Applicants join a waitlist, and OpenAI has already integrated Shopify and Etsy catalogs. Check the page again before 11.11, because OpenAI says it will expand to more regions.
Will fixing my product data get my store into Gemini’s answers?
No one can promise that. Fixing your data means that when an assistant reads your page, the price, stock and product name are correct. Then run your five questions every week and compare the answers to see what changed.
